Last week, speaking for the Administration with roughly three weeks left in office, Secretary of State John Kerry made a speech on the state of Israel and what, in the Administration’s view, Israel needs to do to help achieve peace in the Middle East. In the speech, Kerry said that the Israeli government was extremist and the most right wing in history.
Forget whether that is true or not, the vitriol was a bit much for at least one of our other allies. A spokesperson for British Prime Minister Teresa May, when asked about Kerry’s 70-minute speech, said “We do not believe that it is appropriate to attack the composition of the democratically-elected government of an ally.”
