A Ministry of Sex?
The Spanish government is taking action to address a problem: low birth rates.
For the first time last year, deaths exceeded births in Spain. And Spanish women are, on average, the oldest (at age 32) before they begin to have children and have less children than they average counterparts in the rest of Europe.
Experts say long working hours and a culture of eating late at night and going to bed after midnight are partly to blame for the nation’s sex famine. And the low birth rates have started to have an effect on the economy with an aging population.
So the Prime Minister has appointed Edelmira Barreira as the country’s first Minister of Sex, whose job it will be….well, to encourage people to get busy between the sheets.
