As if politics and ‘weird’ aren’t almost synonymous anyway, we bring you this…along with Hillary’s latest comments on patriotism and more quick takes…
News of the Weird
And finally this, which many people may have already suspected about members of Congress… Bettina Rodriguez Aguilera announced she will be a candidate for Congress to replace retiring Republican Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. And she does have experience that sets her apart from other candidates for the seat in Congress. In a television interview in 2009, Rodriguez Aguilera said that she had been abducted by aliens—the kind not of this world. She said three large blonde aliens, two females and one male, took her and she went up into the spaceship when she was a young child and have communicated with her telepathically on occasion since then. Among the revelations she had during her experience was that there are 300,000 skulls of various human beings in a cave on the Mediterranean island of Malta, that Africa is the ‘energy center’ of the world and that a tourist attraction in Miami-Dade County, the Limestone Castle, is actually an ancient Egyptian pyramid.
As one political commentator said “Miami politics are unusual. This one takes it to a new level.”
Hillary Overseas, Comments on NFL Patriotism and Racism
Speaking in London yesterday, Hillary Clinton said that she supported NFL players in their protests by kneeling during the national anthem. Commenting on her views on the national anthem while overseas, Clinton said it was not a protest against the anthem or the flag, but a way to protest ‘racism and injustice” and that President Trump’s comments against the protests were simply ‘dog whistles’ to rally his racist base.
UNESCO and Anti-Jewish Racism
And speaking of racism…the United States State Department announced that it was pulling out of UNESCO, the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization, for its “anti-Israel bias” and because UNESCO members were behind $550 million in their funding obligation.
UNESCO, long known for taking extreme stands has also been financed primarily by the United States. The United States was thus giving a form to the anti-Jewish bias and propaganda. The Trump Administration signaled that it would end US membership and support for UNESCO, and Israel also announced its plan to withdraw.
According to an Op-Ed in the Washington Post today, between 2009 and 2014, UNESCO adopted 46 resolutions against Israel, one against Syria and zero against any other country in the world.
ICE Moves Into ‘Sanctuary Cities’
Signaling that cities that ignore federal laws which have been passed by Congress, federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials deported 500 illegal immigrants from so-called ‘sanctuary cities’. The sanctuary cities have been controversial for refusing to work with federal officials in enforcement of federal law, believing that they should ignore any law that they disagree with while, of course, still holding out their hands for federal money. Last week, ICE announced the deportation of roughly 500 illegal immigrants in a crackdown on sanctuary city havens.
