A week very full of news tidbits, almost like a series of novels….a traitor who regrets their life when things go bad, a celebrity to stages their own beating to get publicity, and a plot to remove a President. You really can’t make this stuff up.
ISIS Recruit Wants To Come Back
An Alabama woman who joined the Islamic State group in Syria won’t be allowed to return to the United States. The case comes days after another ISIS recruit who fled Britain decided she wanted to return to Britain but was denied re-entry.
Hoda Muthana fled Alabama to travel to Syria to join ISIS. There, she married an ISIS soldier and when he was killed, she married another with whom she had a child. After the death of her second husband, she married yet another ISIS solider but now wants to return to the US.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has stripped Muthana of her citizenship and so she is not allowed to legally re-enter the country. Muthana has hired a lawyer to battle her case and has argued that she should not have been stripped of her citizenship solely because she left to join the enemy of the country.
Thinking Man believes this is a clear-cut case of treason. The woman left, joined the enemy because of her fanatical Islamic beliefs. She lived in the ‘caliphate’, married a member of the enemy’s armed forces-three times. Those armed forces did things like commit genocide, burned people alive after pouring gas on them, and beheaded non-believers. Let’s call it what it is-she is a inhumane fanatic who left the country to join a genocidal cult, as well as an enemy that the US was fighting (and still is). She should be executed for treason and potentially crimes against humanity, depending on what she did and knew while married to a member of a genocidal organization.
Actor Pays To Have Crime Staged, Files False Police Report
Police have charged actor Jussie Smollett with making a false police report. Smollett, who is African-American, claimed that he was brutally beaten by two white men wearing ski masks, who put his head in a noose and yelled racist and pro-Trump slurs.
Police reviewed local video and did not find any corroborating evidence. Last week they brought in two men suspected in the attack, who were brothers from Nigeria. They were released, and police are now investigating the case to see if Smollett planned and staged the attack himself.
Smollett’s family released a statement supporting the actor, and in the statement said that “radical love is the only solution” to dealing the racism and homophobia they say led to the attack but warned that “passivity will be our downfall.”
That particular statement was odd because it’s becoming increasingly likely that Smollett paid to have people stage an attack on himself. Why would someone make up something like that, call the police to report and leave a noose around your neck until they arrived? It’s hard to come up with any other reason other than blind hatred and visceral rage he must have toward President Trump and any of his supporters. It’s sad that political disagreements in our day devolve to this kind of thing. Al Sharpton was right on in this case when he said during an interview that if it turns out that Smollett did, in fact, stage the attack himself that he should be given the full penalty of the law.
Small Town Newspaper Calls For KKK To ‘night ride again”
Unfortunately, and hard as it is to believe sometimes in the 21st century America, there are, in fact, people who still are blatantly racist. More shockingly is that they are not ashamed.
The editor of a small-town Alabama newspaper published an editorial calling for “the Ku Klux Klan to night ride again” and to “clean up” Washington D.C.. Goodloe Sutton – the publisher of the Democrat-Reporter newspaper in Linden, Alabama – confirmed on Monday that he authored the Feb. 14 editorial, where he attacked those who wanted to raise taxes.
It’s hard to wrap your mind around someone who expresses such opinions, on top of the fact that actually hold such opinions. But they exist, and should be derided and shamed, as should their opinions that have no basis in fact or reality.
Former FBI Officer Tells of Plot to Remove Trump
Andrew McCabe, the former deputy F.B.I. director, said in an interview aired on Sunday that top Justice Department officials became so alarmed by President Trump’s decision in May 2017 to fire James B. Comey, the bureau’s director, that they discussed whether to recruit cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Mr. Trump from office. (The 25th Amendment speaks to when a President is no longer capable of acting in his office and “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office”, such as when President Reagan was shot and in surgery).
McCabe’s remarks were made in an interview on “60 Minutes”, as he was promoting his new book which is to be released this week. They raised concern, since Trump was not incapable of carrying out his duties and, if he had committed a crime then Congress is the institution that would impeach him. The FBI nor Justice Dept. would not be involved. McCabe’s involvement raised eyebrows for a number of reasons, not the least of which was that he was involved in meetings that were clearly outside his authority after his wife had donated heavily to Trump’s election opponent, Hillary Clinton.
McCabe was later fired for lying to the FBI in an investigation of whether some FBI investigations were politically motivated.
McCabe and his comments should be very concern to Americans. Regardless of your opinion of this specific President, there are specific judicial processes for prosecuting misconduct or for removing a President who is not able to perform his duties. The FBI should not be a political organization and, on top of reflecting his personal character by lying to the FBI, McCabe’s actions damaged the credibility of that law enforcement agency.
