The Biden Administration announced that it will allocate an additional 20,000 visas for citizens of Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala and Haiti.
At roughly the same time, the Administration said that it was starting to place greater scrutiny on, and to deny, visas for citizens of Afghanistan. Many of these Afghans previously aided the US and our military.
These Afghans are being persecuted and killed by the Taliban. Afghan citizens have to jump through hoops to show they are being persecuted and face death threats daily, yet others are allowed in based on perceived threats from gangs and/or economics.
When did America stop prioritizing help for our allies, who are in danger of paying the ultimate price for helping us?
One of the members of the radical ‘Squad’, the group of self-described leftist, progressive members of Congress, showed again how they think about those that disagree with their agenda.
In a long social media thread, Rep. Ayanna Pressley, a Massachusetts progressive, advocated for students being forgiven for the loans that they took out. In doing so, Pressley came up with a new concept.
“Let’s make it plain: student debt is policy violence,” Pressley stormed.
“Policy violence”? That is a new term, but we can predict where this is all going…because everyone is against violence, right? So to be against student loan cancelation is violence and if you have an opinion that is ‘violent’ then you and your opinion should be banned and outlawed.
This, in short, is the bizarre mindset of radical leftists. To oppose any policy they support is unthinkable, and to do so means you are not simply disagreeing, but literally attacking them. As a result you must be silenced. We have seen this across college campuses and now growing in the halls of Congress. It is inherently undemocratic and against every principle of representative government. And that is why radical progressivism is so dangerous—not just the policy ideas themselves. It’s the desire to silence any dissent.
With the US Senate evenly divided, exactly 50-50 between the two major parties, every vote becomes more important on key issues.
Thus, it was news when, over the weekend, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) said that he could not support President Biden’s spending plan that would be the largest in US history, and would be on top of the $1.8 trillion infrastructure plan already passed (and for which Manchin voted). In his view, it was too much money at a time of already increasing inflation and would add trillions to the national debt.
Among the things that Manchin said he thought were too extravagant was the child tax credit, designed to help families with child care expenses. While in favor of the concept, he said that he thought that it should be limited to families making less than $200,000/year and to homes where no parent stayed at home.
Watch, if you will, the news reports and the wild claims by liberals about what Manchin’s opinion is on child tax credits? It is astonishing the accusations they are throwing his way. Yet, think about what he said. What he said is that he supports helping families with child care expenses as long as 1) there is not a parent at home that can take care of their children and 2) that only families making less than $200,000 need help. That seems pretty reasonable to any logical person. Why does a family who does not need help with child care need money for child care? And why does a family making $200,000 need help from someone like me who makes a lot less? Yet, liberals claim Manchin is ignoring poor people and hurting the “poor” in West Virginia. But that can only be the case if you define “poor” as “making more than $200,000/year.
Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai over the weekend denied saying she was sexually assaulted, despite a November social media post attributed to her that accused a former top Communist Party official of forcing her into sex.
You may recall that she previously had accused Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli, a high ranking member of the Chinese government and Communist Party official, of sexual assault. Since that time, the tennis star has been rarely seen and the World Tennis Association has been among the most vocal in asking about the well-being of their member and past Wimbledon champion.
With the upcoming Olympics in China, here is good example of how China treats human rights and also how it treats its athletes when they cross the government and the Communist Party. One more reminder of the many ways in which Communism is evil and China is dangerous.
In the battle for civil rights, and Dr. King and others fought for the idea that we should be color blind, that people “would not be judged on the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” There were famous court cases that decided the segregation was wrong, that “separate but equal” was discriminatory and the Federal government used troops to enforce integration of schools in Alabama.
No more. Radicals have now determined that whites are the enemy and that the only way to promote racial equality is to have segregation, even on school playgrounds. You don’t believe it? Then notice this sign at an elementary school in Colorado.
Whites are not welcome….and we all suffer by going back to a segregated world that only sees skin color.
University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas smashed two US women’s records in a meet in Akron, OH and in a third event beat her nearest competitor by 38 seconds.
Lia Thomas is in her first year of competitive women’s swimming. So what is the key behind the sudden and dramatic success? Thomas previously competed for the school’s men’s team for three years before joining the women’s team.
This should not be surprising, since this is not an isolated case. Similar instances have occurred before including earlier this year in a girl’s high school sports competition. Of course, they all have one thing in common: it is always a former male that is competing as a female, not a former female now competing as a male. Why is that? It’s genetics and it’s obvious: transgender women are not women as it relates to hormones and how that relates to their physical abilities.
Internationally ranked women’s tennis player Peng Shuai, who is from China, has mostly disappeared from public view since she accused a highly ranked government and Communist Party official of sexual assault. The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) has raised concerns about the safety and well-being of one of it’s players and has pressed the Chinese government to be more forthcoming.
China has continued to be tight-lipped and there is concern that Peng is being persecuted for her accusations. So the WTA has announced it will pull events from China, as a result.
